Sitting at the interface of IMprovised jazz,funk,blues and world music,IMPULSE orchestra is where a polyrhythmic approach to groove sets the scene for soaring solos, group improvisation and rich textured compositions. IMPULSE orchestra is an 8 piece 'mini big band' that honours the great improvised music traditions of the world. Featuring a 5 piece horn section reaching for the cosmic heights anchored by richly woven grooves from a rhythm section comprising guitar, bass, drums, the band is ideally suited to Jazz, world or other music festivals which showcase the art of improvisation, the life giving power of rhythm, the emotive momentum of harmony and the soaring beauty of melody!
In 2022, IMPULSE orchestra won the Queensland Music Awards Jazz Category.
IMPULSE orchestra is made up of long time members of the Queensland music scene.
